Here are the rules for RP duelling. Please read them and make sure you are familiar with them before dueling anyone. If you have any questions, feel free to send them to Admin or moderators in a PM.
1. All spells that you use MUST be from the Harry Potter books or movies. You CANNOT make up your own spell. Just put a creative spin on a spell that is in Harry Potter.
2. You can only use up to two spells per post. Any more than that, and you will recieve a warning. After two warnings, you will lose your deul. A fourth will result in a banning from the club for five days. A fifth warning may result in being banned from the club permanently.
3. You can cast your spell, but do not describe the effect the spell has on your opponent, or whether it hits them at all. This is their decision.
4. You decide whether or not your oppenent's spell hits you, and if so how it affects you. You cannot dodge every single spell. That is just lame, and duels need to have action or there is no point. Let some spells hit you, or partially hit you. Half the fun is getting back at the other person for something they did to you!
5. Winners of Deuls will not be determined soely on who has better spells, because there is a limited number that are available for deuls. The winner will be determined based on creativity in deuling. Be descriptive in your deul and let some spells hit you and describe the spell creatively, and you will have a better chance at winning the deul than if you just dodge every spell and make posts like "Aria dodged the spell and cast expelliarms" Make it descriptive and understandable "Aria was hit with the Rictusempra curse and laughed uncontrollably. She fought the curse and barely got out the Expelliarmus charm through her laughs"
6. You cannot use any unforgivable curse (Imperio, Cruciatus, or Arvada Kadavra). Sectusempra is also banned, as is the Dark Mark.
7. You may not alter your post or post again until your opponent has responded. (Unless they have been inactive in the post for a couple days, in which case something like...____ are you still there? is acceptable)
8. Once again, do not dodge every spell. A creative and interesting description of a spell hitting you is worth more than avoiding the spell entirely. The use of Protego (The Shield Charm) is only allowed up to five times in a deul. (This is also subject to the warning system.
9. If you incorrectly spell a spell, it will not count as having worked. However, a referee or moderator will determine this, so if you are deuling someone and believe that they have spelled the spell wrong, please call a time out from the deul and pm one of the moderators.
*Reminder* RP Duels are judged based on creativity, accurate and detailed description, proper use of spells, proper spelling of spells, spelling, etc. So don't worry so much about who wins the duel in the RP because they may not be the one who wins the duel actually.
The winner of the deul will be judged by me, and will be bolded at the bottom of the post. Once I have made my decision, I will lock the post. Winners may recieve Galleons in their Gringott's bank, house points, both, or some other prize. Again, this is up to my discretion.
